Why Your Videos Need A Hero?

Hello, my creator friend!

When I introduced the Hero in my videos, things started to work much better.

I will share everything with you in this newsletter.

What is a Hero, and why do you need it?

I didn’t invent this! We see it in every movie or book.

The best author who explains this technique is Donald Miller in his book “Building a Storybrand”.

I recommend reading this book.

Every successful story has a Hero.

A character who starts a journey towards a big goal and overcomes obstacles until he successfully reaches the finish line.

And we follow the hero on his journey, watching the movie or reading a book.

We need a hero in our stories to make the viewer empathize with that character.

This will increase the enthusiasm to watch the video more, to like the video, and to feel the story.

How to Introduce the Hero in YouTube Videos?

I understood the role of a hero. However, at first, it seemed complicated to introduce a Hero in my YouTube videos.

How?

In a book, it is simple. Create a character.

But how to introduce a hero in a tutorial about a camera? Or in a tutorial about personal finances? Or in a tutorial about workouts?

This seems impossible at first glance.

Here is the catch: In YouTube videos, the Hero should be the viewer! Your audience!

You create videos for people to watch, learn something, and achieve their goals.

Every viewer is a hero of your video.

How to apply this exactly?

I will give you a few examples:

Example no.1

If I make a tutorial about camera settings, I can make the viewer my Hero like this:

If you want to create better-looking videos, look more professional, and impress your clients, you need to learn the best camera settings.

Do you like this image? If you do, let’s take it step by step, and I will show you how to do it.

Let’s analyze:

  1. “If you want to create better-looking videos” – From the beginning, the video is about him, the viewer.
  2. “Look more professional, and impress your clients” – The viewer is the Hero because the video is about him, and he has this goal.
  3. You need to learn the best camera settings.” – The hero has some obstacles to pass to reach the goal.
  4. “Do you like this image?” – This question will make the viewer realise that I, the creator, have experience with the settings, demonstrating that I know how to set my camera.
  5. “ If you do, let’s take it step by step, and I will show you how to do it.” – This part introduced me as a guide who helps the hero pass the obstacles to reach the final goal.

Like this, the viewer is the hero. And the full video will be about helping him achieve something.

But applying this formula, he will feel like a hero and become interested in watching because, in the end, he will be the beneficiary.

Let’s take another example:

If you make a tutorial about personal finances, the introduction of the hero can sound like this:

Example no.2

If you want to save more money every month, travel more, and enjoy your life, you need to learn how to create a Profit and Loss Sheet.

I saved $1000 every month by using this method. I will show you how to do it, right now!

Let’s analyze:

  1. If you want to save more money every month” – From the beginning, the video is about him, the viewer.
  2. “Travel more, and enjoy your life” – The viewer is the Hero because the video is about him, and he has this goal.
  3. “You need to learn how to create a Profit and Loss Sheet.” – The hero has some obstacles to pass to reach the goal.
  4. I saved $1000 every month by using this method. – Proving that the method works, viewers realise that I, the creator, have experience with the method, and the hero will trust me.
  5. “I will show you how to do it, right now!” – This part introduced me as a guide who helps the hero pass the obstacles to reach the final goal.

This simple technique changed the interest of the viewers in my videos and helped my channel grow faster.

Think about this method, try it for a few videos, and enjoy the results.
